This is a superb long vintage French tapestry wall hanging. It is over 2.3 metres long. It is very architectural and would certainly add a chateâu chic finishing touch to a stair well or a tall room.

It depicts a fabulous column decorated with gilded crowns and entwined with a glorious flower garland. The top of the column is very decorative with 2 scrolling curls. It is adorned with a fabulous blue bow with ribbon tails. Below this is a profusion of fruit and it is from here that the flower garland snakes down the column.

The background of the tapestry is an oatmeal colour which is the perfect backdrop for the vibrant colours of the flowers and fruit.

The tapestry is woven in linen and cotton. The edges are bound and it is lined on the back.

On the left hand side as one looks at it, there are two water marks . These are about mid way down the tapestry (please see photos).

On the back of the top of the tapestry are 4 metal fittings to hang it on a wall, there is also a sewn pocket to take a hanging rod.

The tapestry measures :- 239 cm (7 ft 10 inches) long x 65 cm (2 ft 1.5 inches) wide.
