B1003 - Gorgeous Antique French Marriage / Wedding Stand With Timeworn Couronne, 19th CDating from the 1800's this gorgeous antique French stand would have originally been displayed below a glass dome as part of the traditional marriage display. The dome has long gone and this superb period piece would now make a fabulous decorative piece or a display stand for jewellery perhaps in a château chic boudoir. The stand sits on an ebonised wooden plinth. The focal point of the stand is the plump red padded velvet cushion upon which the original orange blossom wedding couronne sits. The couronne has now timeworn but still looks divine as part of the display. It could now be removed and the cushion used to display other items. The cushion sits on a pierced toleware crown. Beneath this is a wire frame which supports a delightful display of toleware flowers and leaves. At the centre of this is a diamond shaped bevelled mirror above which a little bird soars. The ebonised wooden base sits on 4 sturdy feet. It has at some stage had a little worm but this has now long gone. Although time worn the stand is sturdy. The card on the underside of the velvet cushion has warped a little with the passage of time (see photos). This does not show when the stand is sitting on a table. The stand measures:- 26 cm (10.25 inches) high x 33 cm (13 inches) wide x 20 cm (8 inches) deep. A gorgeous timeworn treasure to add faded grandeur to any chateau chic boudoir and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe.
