This is a truly beautiful antique French religious print dating from the 19th Century. It is in the most amazing frame.

The print depicts Christ on the cross and Mary at his feet. Despite all, the scene is very serene and beautiful. Mary tilts her gorgeous face upwards in prayer. She has long flowing hair and wears a stunning red gown which looks sublime against the glorious green countryside behind.

There is a crackle finish effect within the print which together with the gorgeous antique colours makes it a very atmospheric piece.

The frame of the print is made of wood and is skillfully carved in the shape of a church window or a piece of ecclesiastical architecture. It is beautifully gilded. If you look very carefully at the top of the side columns you will see that the frame actually blends into the print.

The print and it's frame are in good antique condition. The print has bubbled a little in places and there are one or two old worm holes in the frame, but these do not detract from the beauty of this gorgeous old piece.

It measures :- 43 cm (17 inches) high x 21 cm (8.25 inches) wide.
