This is a superb pair of antique French ormolu curtain tie / hold backs dating from the 1800's. They would certainly add a château chic finishing touch to a curtain ensemble.

They are substantial pieces of good quality with excellent detail and definition to the casting of the metal.

They are in the Empire style. The back plate and the fascia of the hook has stunning swagged laurel leaf garland detail.

The gilding on the ormolu has mellowed over the years to a lovely soft old gold.

The tie backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook. There is also a hole to take a screw.

They measure :- H 17 cm (6.75 inches) x W 6 cm (2.3 inches) x D 16 cm (6.25 inches) approx.
