B1047 - Gorgeous Antique French Tooled Leather & Tapestry Collar, Stud, Jewellery Box

This is a gorgeous, superb quality antique French tooled leather & tapestry trinket / collar box dating from the 19th century. It would be superb in both a boudoir or a gentleman's dressing room.

The exterior of the box is breathtaking! The leather is exquisitely tooled with finely detailed intricate gilded scrolls, flower baskets and shells. We have left the leather as we found it - softly scuffed with the passage of time but it could be waxed and polished to a high gloss finish if required.

The centre of the lid has a sublime fine silk tapestry panel depicting a beautifully turned out 18th Century gentleman surrounded by adoring females. It has faded with the passage of time and has some age spots but there is no wear to the textile and is still simply divine!

The lid of the box lifts up to reveal a sumptuous interior lined with a gorgeous apricot coloured moiré silk which is beautifully clean.

The box has a strong piano hinge. It has a lock which closes nicely but sadly the key has long gone.

The box is in good sturdy condition. There are some water marks to the underside.

The box measures :- 24 cm (9.5 inches) in diameter x 8 cm (3.1 inches) high.
