B1051 - SOLDThis is a superb pair of antique French marble and brass bookends dating from the 1930's. They would certainly add a stylish finishing touch to an office or library and make the perfect present for an Alsation dog / German Shepherd lover.
Each bookend has a handsome seated German Shepherd / Alsation Dog. The dog looks very alert and has a front leg extended. Each dog is cast in lovely detail and the metal is beautifully tinted to simulate the dog's markings.
Each dog sits on a marble base. The marble has a lovely warm burgundy hue with white veining. There is red baize on the bottom of each base.
The bookends are understandably weighty pieces and would be up to supporting some fairly hefty tomes. They are in good sturdy condition with some very minor patination to the finish on the dogs.
Each bookend measures :- approx. 13.5 cm (5.25 inches) high x 15 cm (6 inches) wide x 7 cm (2.75 inches) deep.
A stunning pair of Alsation Dog bookends to use and enjoy and another superb antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
