This is a fabulous pair of antique French curtain tie / hold backs dating from about 1900. They are the first I have seen in the Art Nouveau style and they are absolutely gorgeous.

They are made of brass and have a beautiful iris design. The fascia of the hook has a stunning iris flower and the back plate has swirling iris leaves typical of the Art Nouveau style.

They are substantial pieces of good quality with excellent detail and definition to the casting of the metal.

The brass has patinated over the years (there are even lovely areas of verdigris) to wonderful effect, and one of the hold backs is slightly darker than the other. This is a look we love but they could be polished to a bright shiny finish if required. 

The tie backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook. There is also a hole to take a screw.

They measure :- H 22 cm (8.5 inches) x W 7.5 cm (3 inches) x D 17 cm (6.75 inches) approx.
