This is a rather plumptious vintage French tapestry wall hanging depicting a 17th Century hunting scene. It is full of colour and action and has lots of detail. It would certainly add a château chic finishing touch to a room.

It depicts a stunning scene of a gathering of noblemen and women at a hunt. They are riding fine steeds and are accompanied by their huntsmen and dogs.

They are all superbly dressed in costumes in stunning shades of red, deep pink and blue. The men wear padded tunics, breeches and plumed hats. The ladies wear gorgeous full skirted gowns and have startched ruffs at their necks. They are surrounded by a profusion of trees and lush vegetation in gorgeous rich shades of green & ochre.

The scene is framed by a beautiful border of flowers in blue, red and pink.

The tapestry is woven in wool and linen and is of excellent quality. It is very thick and has a padded appearance which gives relief and definition to the subject matter. It is in excellent vintage condition.

It measures :- 100 cm (3 ft 3.5 inches) wide x 87 cm (2 ft 10.25 inches) high.

A fantastic tapestry to add an authentic château chic statement to a room and another divine vintage French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
