These 3 pretty little antique French bow embellishments would have been used to cover picture hooks. They are made from toleware and date from the 19th C . They are so decorative they could now be incorporated in a number of projects to add a château chic finishing touch to a room.
The toleware is ridged to resemble grosgrain ribbon and has been bent and worked into a three dimensional bow shape. The result is absolutely gorgeous.
On the back of each bow is a little square tube which would fit over a hook or could be adapted for fixing purposes. We have used a hook, and an antique tapestry (listed in our other items), to show how the embellishments can be used.
The gilding on the bows has mellowed over the years. The two larger ones have a bronzy hue and the smaller one a more subtle old gold.
The larger bows measures :- 5.5 cm (2.25 inches) high x 5 cm (2 inches) wide.
A gorgeous trio of decorative mounts to add a château chic finishing touch and another divine brocante find from La Belle Étoffe.

N.B. We have shown the bows in an antique French glass casket which is listed in our other items.
