B1069 - SOLD
This is the most gorgeous antique French Cornely lace curtain dating from the 1800's. It is long and wide and would be divine incorporated into any number of interior decorating projects.
The textile is a very fine cotton muslin and is absolutely covered in an exquisite floral design with vignettes and tendrils worked in fine chain stitch.
The curtain is hemmed to the top and the left hand side as one looks at it, and is scalloped along the bottom and right hand side. It was probably once one of a pair.
The curtain is beautifully clean and is a lovely snowy white. Not surprisingly, considering the delicacy of the textile and it's age, there is a scattering of pin holes and minor areas of wear across the curtain. Some of these have been painstakingly and delicately repaired (please see photos). None of this draws the eye and the curtain is beautiful and fully functional as it is.
The curtain measures :- 260 cm (8 ft 6.5 inches) long x 180 cm ( 5 ft 11 inches) wide.
A divine frothy French Cornely lace curtain to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique French textile find from La Belle toffe.
Please note that the clips we have used to display the curtains are not included.
