B1093 - Stunning Large Antique French Glass Dispay Casket, Jewellery / Trinket Box 19thC
This is a stunning large antique French glass casket dating from the 1800's. It would originally have been used to display keepsakes from a wedding outfit such as the couronne and perhaps flowers from the bouquet. It would certainly add an authentic château chic finishing touch to a boudoir.
The casket has thick bevelled glass to the 4 sides and the lid. The frame of the box is made from finely worked ormolu and the box sits on 4 elegant ormolu feet. The lid has a scrolled clasp.
The base of the box is covered in a sumptuous padded red silk velvet. It is buttoned with gorgeous red metallic flowers with a central bead. The red velvet makes the perfect display background for the creams and whites of wedding regalia and the sparkle of jewellery.
The casket is in excellent antique condition. The velvet has a tiny bit of wear but is still vibrant and sumptuous.
The casket measures :- 19 cm (7.5 inches) wide x 14.5 cms (5.75 inches) high x 14.5 cm (5.75 inches) deep.
This beautiful casket is from a carefully selected collection of gorgeous antique French decorative pieces & accessories at 'La Belle Étoffe'.
N.B. The roses on the outside of the box are real. Those inside the box are a fabulous millinery corsage which we will be listing in our other items.
