This is an exquisite antique French diorama dating from the 1800's. It would make a lovely addition to a religious display or perhaps just be enjoyed for it's beauty.

The diorama features a fabulous print of Mary in gorgeous colour and detail. She has a beautiful face with full rosebud lips, pink cheeks and huge soulful eyes. At her chest is the Sacred Burning Heart adorned with pink roses and pierced through with a dagger. Above her halo 6 adorable winged angels look down on her.

Surrounding Mary and still under the domed glass is the most amazing oval of hand strung beaded flowers and leaves in vibrant colours. The work that went into these must have been considerable. but definitely well worth it. The flowers are in shades of turquoise, whites, red and yellow and the leaves are a bright emerald green.

Around the edge of the diorama is further bead work in the form of a border and a twisted wire threaded with hundreds of tiny turquoise and white beads. The resultant effect is breathtaking.

The diorama is in excellent antique condition. There are just a few beads missing from the wire at the apex, possibly where someone hung it rather than from the loop on the back.

It measures :- 25 cm (9.75 inches) high x 21 cm (8.25 inches) wide.
