This is a sublime pair of antique French gilded metal curtain tie / hold backs dating from the 1800's. They would certainly add a château chic finishing touch to a curtain ensemble.

They are substantial pieces of good quality with excellent detail and definition to the casting of the metal.  The back plate and the fascia of the hook has a stunning swirled acanthus leaf design and there is further acanthus leaf detail on the hook itself.

The gilding has a gorgeous buttery hue with golden glints which catch the light beautifully. There is a little patination and verdigris which just adds to the character of these gorgeous old pieces.

The tie backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook. There is also a hole to take a screw.

They measure approx. :- H 20 cm (8 inches) x W 6.25 cm (2.5 inches) x D 17.5 cm (7 inches) .
