This is an exquisite antique French silk panel / pelmet in the most gorgeous shade of coral. It is overlain with amazing handworked lace ribbonwork. The resultant effect is breathtaking!

The panel is slightly padded and is lined on the reverse with a matching coral coloured textile. The lace ribbonwork has an antique cream hue which looks superb against the coral silk.

The lace has been made into a long ribbon and then fashioned into a fabulous design held together by drawn thread work. This has a lace border and is sewn as an independent panel over the silk.

The silk has one or two areas of fracturing (please see photos) which are not really noticeable through the lace and is cetainly compensated for by it's amazing colour.
The lace is in good order. I can find just 2 of the drawn threads that have come adrift over the years and there is just one red spot which looks like sealing wax.

The panel measures :- 116 cm (45.75 inches) long x 14.5 cm (5.75 inches) high.
