B1153 - SOLD

This is a superb large antique French planter / jardinière dating from the 1800's.

It would be perfect to take a couple of geraniums or perhaps be piled high with fir cones. It would sit beautifully on a window ledge or shelf and would look divine on a hall console table perhaps in front of a mirror.

It is made from spelter and is a weighty piece. It is highly decorative and is cast in wonderful detail. It has stunning scrolled acanthus leaf handles and sits on 4 sturdy feet. The sides have a gorgeous flower garland crest beneath which are musical instruments with leaves and berries to either side.

The base has faux tie detail and there is an acanthus leaf flourish to the centre of both sides.

The silver gilding on the spelter has  mellowed over the years to a lovely rosy hue.

Inside is a lift out zinc tray with two little handles.

The jardinière  measures :- H 14 cm (5.5 inches) x W 42 cm (16.5 inches) x D 19 cm (7.5 inches).

It is in good condition and would add a stunning château chic finishing touch to an interior. It is from a carefully selected collection of gorgeous antique French decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'!
