This is a beautiful vintage French tapestry wall hanging dating from the mid 1900's. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch to a room.

It is of excellent quality and is woven in amazing detail.

It depicts a beautiful romantic 18th C château garden scene. The setting is idyllic and is inspired by the gardens of Marie Antoinette's Petit Trianon in the grounds of the Palace of Versailles.  All the characters are happy and relaxed, and it is a joy to look at.

A beautiful couple are central to the scene. They are sitting under a magnificent tree and there is a pillar with a huge urn behind them. The lady is wearing a gorgeous pink gown. She wears a rose at her bosom & carries a fan. Her beau is also beautifully dressed. He has frills at his neck and sleeves and looks very attentively at his lady. Next to them another couple, possibly their servants, are collecting garlands of roses. In the background other couples relax and walk in the gardens.

The colours are subtle shades of pink, lilac, ochre and green.

The tapestry is made of wool and linen and is in excellent vintage condition. In fact it looks like it has never been used.

It measures :- 129 cm (4ft 2.75 inches) high x 72 cm (2ft 4.25 inches) wide.
