B1161 - SOLD

This is the most gorgeous antique French Cornely lace curtain dating from the 1800's. It is very long and would be divine incorporated into any number of interior decorating projects.

The textile is a very fine cotton muslin and is absolutely covered in exquisite floral  vignettes, scrolls and tendrils worked in fine chain stitch.

The curtain is scalloped to both edges and the bottom. The top is ruched on a header tape.

The curtain is beautifully clean and is a lovely antique white. Not surprisingly, considering the delicacy of the textile and it's age, there are a few holes. There are two holes of approx. 2 cm (0.75 inches) in diameter and an area where the textile has vertical fatigue to about 4 cm (1.5 inches). In addition there is a scattering of tiny holes and minor areas of wear across the curtain (please see photos). None of this draws the eye and the curtain is beautiful and fully functional as it is. When draped to one side the holes would not even show. The holes could however be darned or repaired as has been done on other Cornely lace curtains we have had in the past.

The curtain measures :- 290 cm (9 ft 6 inches) long x 148 cm (4 ft 10.75 inches) wide at the bottom & 125 cm (4 ft 1.25 inches) wide at the top.

A divine frothy French Cornely lace curtain to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.

Please note that the clips & tie back we have used to display the curtain are not included. The tie back is one of a pair which is available in our other items.
