B1177 - SOLD

This is a fabulous pair of antique French gold wire bullion epaulettes in their original box. They are those of a French Grenadier Officer and date from about 1870. They are marvellously decorative and would look superb as part of an interiors display, perhaps grouped with other items on a console table. Or indeed, they would add a certain 'je ne sais quoi' to a dinner jacket!

The epaulettes have a bright buttery gold hue and the gold wire bullion is spendidly sumptuous. Each has a bright gilded button with an emblem in the shape of a grenade. When we turn the epaulettes over we see that they are lined with a jet black crepe textile and that each has a prong for attaching to a uniform.

The box is a figure of 8 shape and is made of plywood. The lid has the retailer's label with the location of PARIS. The box has two ties for securing it shut.

The box has timeworn to perfection and the epaulettes are in good antique condition and are ready to wear.

The box measures :- 23 cm (9 inches) wide x 16 cm (6.25 inches) deep x 9.5 cm (3.75 inches) high.
Each epaulette measures :- 20 cm (8 inches) wide x 12.75 (5 inches) deep x 10.5 cm (4.2 inches) long.

A gorgeous pair of epaulettes in their original box.  They are from a carefully selected collection of antique French decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'!
