This is a gorgeous antique French ormolu trinket casket dating from the 1800's.  It would look superb on a dressing table and would certainly add a château chic touch to a boudoir.

It is a weighty little piece and is sturdy. It stands on elegant legs with scrolled acanthus leaf feet. It is decorated on all 4 sides with a central crest beneath which is a gorgeous rose. The lid has a central tambourine surrounded by a beautiful rose garland.

The lid lifts up on a hinge to reveal a padded & buttoned silk interior in a sublime shade of cerise pink. It is trimmed with a matching passementerie. The silk is still bright and beautiful and shows no signs of wear.

The ormolu has patinated a little to subtle perfection.

The trinket casket measures :-  11.5 cm (4.5 inches) high x 8.5 cm (3.3 inches) wide x 8 cm (3.1 inches) deep.
