This is a sublime vintage French wall hanging. It has a medieval tapestry design printed on linen. It is entitled 'Licorne Captive' and is after one of the 16th Century French unicorn tapestries in the Met Cloisters museum in New York. This version certainly captures the essence of the original and would look superb whether hung in a country house home or a hyper modern apartment.

It depicts a magnificent unicorn captured in a circular enclosure. A tree grows from the centre of the enclosure and all around are a multitude of flowers (millefleurs). The colours are stunning shades of orange, green and yellow with touches of red. The detail to the printing is amazing.

The wall hanging is lined with hessian and has metal fixtures for hanging on a wall. It is in good vintage condition and hangs beautifully.

It measures :- 120 cm (3 ft 11 inches) high x 80 cm (2 ft 7.5 inches ) wide.

A fantastic wall hanging to add an authentic château chic statement to a room and another divine vintage French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
