B1211 - SOLD

This is the most gorgeous antique French hand embroidered lace curtain dating from the early 1900's. It is very sheer and would be perfect for any number of interiors projects.

The textile is a very soft tulle in a sublime shade of antique cream. There is an oval  to the top and the centre each filled with hand embroidered flowers and leaves with cut out work. To each side of the curtain is a vertical tendril of embroidered flowers and leaves. Across the curtain is a scattering of polka dots and berry and leaf vignettes.

The two side edges of the curtain have very delicate embroidered detail. The top of the curtain is ruched and frilled and on the reverse of this is sewn a tape to take hooks. At the bottom of the curtain there is a long tasseled fringe which has frothed to perfection over the years. The detail on the curtain is amazing!

The curtain is in very good antique condition. There are one or two minor pulls to the embroidery and also a few very tiny pin holes (please see photos). At the bottom of the curtain just above the fringe is a very faint watermark which one has to search to find. We have tried to photograph it but it doesn't show up in the photos!

The curtain measures :- 130 cm (4 ft 3.25 inches) wide x 245 cm (8 ft 0.5 inches) long including the tassels which are 28 cm (11 inches) long.

A divine frothy hand embroidered lace curtain to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.

Please note that the clips & tie back we have used to display the curtain are not included.
