B1221 - SOLD

This is a superb vintage Flemish woven throw / tablecloth, the design and colours of which are inspired by the 16th Century tapestries in the Cluny Museum in Paris. It is absolutely stunning and would look divine over a chair or the back of a sofa

It has a broad navy blue border filled with a myriad of millefleur and adorable little animals including rabbits, fawns and dogs. To each of the corners is a magnificent rearing unicorn bearing a standard. The rest of the throw is in a lovely deep red. In the centre is a circle absolutely full of leaves, flowers and fruit. The detail is amazing.

The throw is woven in cotton and is very plumptious and hangs beautifully. Around the edge is a fringe.

The throw is in excellent vintage condition and measures :- 140 cm (4ft 7 inches) square without the fringe and 148 cm (4 ft 10.25 inches) square with the fringe.

A superb throw to add a mythical medieval touch to a room and another divine vintage textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
