B1231 - SOLD

This is the most fabulous antique French Cornely lace curtain dating from the 1800's. It is in exceptional condition, is long and wide and would be divine incorporated into any number of interior decorating projects.

The textile is a very fine cotton muslin and is absolutely covered in an exquisite floral design with vignettes and tendrils worked in fine chain stitch. To the centre is a fabulous flower and urn design to either side of which is a scrolled plinth with further flower vignettes - absolutely gorgeous!

The curtain is scalloped to both edges and the bottom. The top has a hemmed edge.

The curtain is a lovely snowy white and is crisp. It is in exceptional condition for it's type, but not surprisingly, considering the delicacy of the textile and it's age, there are some very minor characteristics which should be pointed out. At the top edge of the curtain are two small holes and across the curtain are a few pin holes & tiny darns which one has to search to find. Two of the leaves (one on the top right hand flower vignette and one on the central flower vignette) have a slightly creamy appearance. Please see all the photos. None of this draws the eye and the curtain is beautiful and fully functional as it is. The curtain is very long and the top could be further hemmed to hide the 2 holes.

The curtain measures :- 300 cm (9 ft 10 inches) long x 148 cm (4 ft 10 inches) wide.

A divine frothy French Cornely lace curtain to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.

Please note that the clips & tie back we have used to display the curtain are not included.
