This is a stunning vintage French tapestry wall hanging. It is full of medieval  imagery and is woven in amazing detail. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

It is inspired by the magnificent illuminated manuscripts of Jean de France, Duc de Berry at the end of the 15th Century.

It depicts a nobleman and his lady mounted on beautiful horses. They each carry a falcon and are beautifully attired. They are attended by their manservants. Behind them is a magnificent castle set in fabulous countryside. The vegetation is lush and the foreground is filled with millefleurs. The scene is breathtaking and is further set off by a gorgeous border. The colours are rich vibrant shades of green, blue and red.

The reverse of the tapestry is lined and bears the maker's authentication. There are some metal fixtures for hanging.

The tapestry is in excellent vintage condition and measures :- 138 cm (4 ft 6.25 inches) wide x 89.5 cm (2 ft 11.25 inches) high.

A fantastic tapestry to add an authentic château chic statement to a room and another divine vintage French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
