This is a divine vintage French wall hanging. It has a medieval tapestry design printed on linen. It is entitled 'La Dame à la licorne' and is after one of the 16th Century Lady and Unicorn tapestries in the Musée national du Moyen Âge (Cluny) in Paris. This version certainly captures the essence of the original and would look superb whether hung in a country house home or a hyper modern apartment.

To the centre of the scene is a beautifully dressed lady with her attendant. The lady plays a very elaborate organ. To either side of the pair is a lion and a unicorn both carrying standards. The scene is full of heraldic imagery and there is a plethora of little animals, birds & millefleurs.

The colours are gorgeous shades of corals, blues and greens all faded with the passage of time which just adds character to this lovely piece.

The wall hanging has a hessian lining and on the back are some metal fixtures (one missing) for hanging purposes. It is in good vintage condition.

It measures :- 116 cm (3 ft 9.5 inches) high x 85 cm (2 ft 9.5 inches ) wide.

A fantastic wall hanging to add an authentic château chic statement to a room and another divine vintage French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
