B1239 - SOLD
This is a gorgeous antique French plaster bust dating from the early 1900's. It is a substantial piece weighing well over 4 kg and would make a stunning feature.
The subject is an extremely pretty girl studying a book of music. She has thick wavy hair, beautiful eyes, and cupid's bow lips. She is very contemplative of her studies and is resting her head on her hand. Her dress gently slips off her shoulder.
She is beautifully painted in wonderful colour and detail. Her dress is a sublime shade of green. She has a gentle rosy glow to her cheeks and her lips and eyes have an almost doll like quality.
The plaster plinth has a plaque to the front with the title 'A L'Etude' and the back is engraved with 'FRANCE' and has the makers stamp.
The bust is in good antique condition. There is a little patination and distressing to the paint but she is gorgeous just as she is (please see photos).
She measures 32 cm (12.5 inches) high x 21 cm (8.25 inches) wide x 20 cm (8 inches) deep.
This is a beautiful bust to add an authentic antique French finishing touch and another divine brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!
