B1272 - SOLD

This is a superb antique French wax statue dating from the early 1900's. It is in the style of Jean Antoine Houdon's 'Bather' and is very charming. It would certainly add an atmospheric touch to a display.

The subject is a pretty young mademoiselle. She is in a seated position with her vestment lowered and gently draped around her in readiness for her bathing. She has beautiful wavy hair styled in a chignon and held up with a bandana.

The wax is finely moulded and is in atmospheric sepia hues. The statue sits upon a circular wooden plinth in rich mid brown tones which sets the statue off to perfection.

The bust on it's plinth measures 26 cm (10.25 inches) high. The plinth is 15.5 cm (6.25 inches) in diameter.

A gorgeous bust to enhance any period display and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
