This is a fabulous large vintage French wall hanging. It has a medieval tapestry design printed on linen. It is after 'Taste' one of the 16th Century Lady and Unicorn tapestries in the Musée national du Moyen Âge (Cluny) in Paris. This version certainly captures the essence of the original and would look superb whether hung in a country house home or a hyper modern apartment.

The lady is in the centre of the tapestry. She is taking sweets from a dish held by a maidservant. Her eyes are on a parakeet on her upheld hand. A lion and a unicorn are both standing on their hind legs reaching up to pennants which frame the lady to either side. A monkey is at her feet, eating one of the sweetmeats.

The rest of the scene is covered by a myriad of millefleurs within which little animals hide. The detail is amazing and the wall hanging is a feast for the eyes.

The background colours are a burgundy red and a deep midnight blue against which the pinks, teals, and ochres look stunning.

The wall hanging is lined and hangs beautifully. It is in good vintage condition.

It measures :- 198 cm (6 ft 6 inches) wide x 127 cm (4 ft 2 inches ) high.
