This is a gorgeous antique French gilded metal trinket casket dating from the 1800's.  It has it's original superb padded silk lining and is a rare find. It would look divine on a dressing table and would certainly add a château chic finishing touch to a boudoir.

It is a weighty piece and is sturdy. It stands on scrolled acanthus leaf feet and is decorated on all 4 sides with scrolled acanthus leaf detail. The lid has a central rose and leaf motif.

The lid lifts up on a piano hinge to reveal a sumptuous padded & buttoned silk interior in a sublime shade of green. It is trimmed with a matching passementerie.

The silk is still bright and beautiful and is in very good antique condition.

The gilding on the metal has mellowed over the years to subtle perfection.

The trinket casket measures :-  10 cm (4 inches) high x 9.5 cm (3.75 inches) wide x 9.5 cm (3.75 inches) deep.
