B1282 - SOLDThis is an absolutely stunning pair of antique French bronze and marble bookends dating from the early 1900's. They each feature a magnificent flying stork, a bird we are privileged to have here in the Charente Maritime. The birds are cast in bronze in flight. Their fabulous wings are outstretched and their long pointed beaks extend skywards. Their long legs stream behind them in perfect tandem. There is excellent detail and definition to the casting of the metal. The birds each sit firmly upon a marble plinth. The bookends are sturdy and substantial. There are just a few nibbles to the edges of the marble (please see photos). Each bookend measures :- approx. 19 cm (7.5 inches) wide x 13.5 cm (5.25 inches) high x 8.5 cm (3.25 inches) deep. A stunning pair of stork bookends to add an architectural finishing touch to a bureau or study and another superb antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
