This is a regal pair of antique French ormolu curtain tie / hold backs dating from the 1800's. They would certainly add an authentic château chic finishing touch to a curtain ensemble.

They are substantial pieces of good quality and weight with excellent detail and definition to the casting of the metal.

The fascia of the hook has a beautiful bow and ribbon tail crest. The back plate has an acanthus leaf  cup crest beneath which is a draped swag design. An acorn finial adds the finishing touch to these beautiful pieces.

The gilding on the metal has subtly mellowed over the years whilst still retaining it's buttery hue.

The tie backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook. There is also a hole to take a screw.

They measure approx :- H 19 cm (7.5 inches) x W 5.5 cm (2.25 inches) x D 17.5 cm (6.75 inches).
