This is a gorgeous antique Italian carved wood mount / pediment  dating from the 1700's. It is very architectural and would look superb on a wall or would be perfect as a central point from which to hang drapes, perhaps over a bed as a ciel de lit.

The pediment is in the 'baroque' style and has a beautiful three dimensional floral bouquet crest tied with a bow and ribbon tails.

The pediment is beautifully water gilded on gesso with subtle hints of the red bole base. There are one or two very minor chips to the gilding and gesso (please see photos).

The pediment measures:- 42.5 cm (16.75 inches) wide x 21 cm (8.25 inches) high.
