B1331 - Gorgeous Antique French Spelter Planter / Jardiniere, Blue Glass, Roses & Leaves
This is a gorgeous antique French planter / jardinière dating from the 1800's. It would be perfect to take a couple of cyclamen, or as it has the glass bowl could take cut roses as a table centre piece.
The jardinière is highly decorative and is made of silvered spelter. It has beautiful scrolled handles with acanthus leaf and faux tie detail which continues on the upper rim and side crests of the jardinière.
On each of the sides of the jardinière is a central shield with a laurel leaf swag. To either side of this is a pierced design through which beautiful roses and leaves are intertwined.
The interior of the jardinière lifts out and is thick glass in a fabulous shade of dark blue. The blue of the glass shows through the pierced design on the sides of the jardinière.
The jardinière is a weighty piece. The silvering on the spelter has mellowed over the years but still catches the light beautifully.
The jardinière is in good condition, the glass is perfect with no chips or cracks.
It measures :- W 29.5 cm (11.5 inches) x H 11 cm (4.3 inches) x D 16 cm (6.25 inches).
