This is an amazing antique French wrought iron and stained glass candle lantern dating from the early 1900's. It is very decorative and is made in incredible detail.

The lantern sits on 4 curly little feet and has a twisted wire loop for carrying purposes. It has a conical top intricately made with twisted and curled wrought iron and with a little flower to each side.

The sides and door of the lantern are also made in incredible detail with the joyous addition of a circular, very thick stained glass window, each one in a different colour. The colours are rich, jewel tones of amber, turquoise, purple and green.

The door of the lantern has a curly handle. It opens to reveal a space large enough for a tea light or a small church candle.

The wrought iron was probably once painted black but it has now weathered perfectly to a wonderful patina.

Including the handle the lantern measures :- 26 cm (10.25 inches) high x approx 11 cm (4.25 inches) wide & deep.
