This beautiful antique French gilded metal mount would originally have come from a mirror, bed or armoire and dates from the 1800's. It would look stunning over a doorway or as a centre piece on a curtain pelmet. Fixed above a bed it could form part of a ciel de lit from which to drape curtains.

The design is absolutely delightful. There is a central acanthus leaf embellishment to either side of which is an adorable chubby winged cherub / fairy entwined within a flower garland and holding an ear of corn aloft.

The detail in the casting of the metal is fabulous. The mount is of excellent quality with good weight. The gilding has a lovely antique hue.

The mount has 6 holes to take pins for fixing and it measures 29 cm (11.5 inches) wide x 5.5 cm (2.25 inches) high.
