B1412 - SOLD

This is the most divinely pretty antique French Cornely lace curtain dating from the 1800's. It would be perfect to add an authentic château chic finishing touch to a window.

The textile is a very fine cotton muslin in a lovely snowy white. The side edges of the curtain are scalloped and within these is a daisy and leaf border worked in a fine chain stitch. The bottom is also scalloped and has a beautiful flower and leaf vignette to the centre. Across the rest of the curtain is scattered a plethora of gorgeous embroidered daisies...... just lovely!

The top of the curtain is ruched onto a tape. The bottom of the curtain is shaped so that it is slightly longer on the right hand side to aid draping.

The curtain is in good antique condition but not surprisingly, considering the delicacy of the textile and it's age there are some characteristics to point out. There are a few rust marks (please see photos), probably acquired from pegs during the laundering process over the years. There are also some pin holes and one small darn. These are very minor characteristics and in no way detract from the beauty of this lovely curtain.

The curtain measures :- 183 cm (6 ft) long on the right hand side, 169 cm (5 ft 6.5 inches) long on the left hand side, 44 cm (1 ft 5.25 inches) across the top and 146 cm (4 ft 9.5 inches) across the bottom.

A divine frothy French Cornely lace curtain to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.

Please note that any accessories we have used to display the curtain are not included.
