B1437 - Divine Antique French Belle Mademoiselle Wax Bust On Wooden Plinth, After Houdon
This is a divine antique French wax bust dating from the early 1900's. It is in the style of Jean Antoine Houdon's 'Fille au chignon - Louise Brongniart' and is very charming.
The subject is a very pretty young mademoiselle. She has beautiful wavy hair styled in a chignon and held up with a bandana. She has sweet, child like features with an adorable air of innocence.
The wax is finely moulded and has a pale almost translucent creamy hue with contrasting sepia tones.
The bust is attached to a wooden plinth.
Both the bust and it's plinth have survived the years in good condition. There is a tiny nibble to the wax on one of the arms and the varnish on the plinth has dulled over the years but this does not detract from the beauty of the bust in any way.
The bust on it's plinth measures 28 cm (11 inches) high x 17 cm (6.75 inches) wide x approx. 16 cm (6.25 inches) deep.
A gorgeous bust to enhance any period display and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
