B1438 - SOLD

This is a beautiful antique French religious altar dating from the 1800's. It is cast in  brass and is very decorative and architectural. It would be perfect for a special niche.

The altar has a central spire with a cross and to either side of this is a steeple. There is a beautiful scrolled acanthus leaf to the base. The ecclesiastical architectural detail to the piece is astonishing.

To the centre of the altar is The Virgin Mary and Jesus in gilded splendour.

When we turn the piece over we see that there is a fitting to the base and that it was once probably attached to something, possibly a staff. There is a loop for hanging on a wall.

The altar measures :- 24.5 cm (9.6 inches) high x 8 cm (3.1 inches) wide.

This is a fabulous religious piece to display and use and another divine antique French brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!
