This is a fantastic antique French leather glove / jewellery box dating from the 19th Century.

The leather is in a rich chestnut hue and is a pleasure to handle. We have left it as we found it but it would polish further if required.

The lid has a fabulous decorative metal embellishment which extends downwards to form a clasp with the lock on the base.

The lid of the box lifts up to reveal a sumptuous padded interior in a gorgeous champagne coloured silk damask. The silk is in amazing antique condition with no wear, just a little dust from the passage of time.

The box has a strong hinges and sits on four little metal ball feet.

The lock is very decorative and continues the pineapple theme of the lid embellishment. The key has long gone but the clasp fits nicely in and out of the lock to close or open the box.

The box is sturdy and is in good antique condition.

The box measures :- 33 cm (13 inches) wide x 10.75 cm (4.25 inches) deep x 10 cm (4 inches) high.
