B1483 - SOLD

This is a divine 19th Century antique French filigree brass frame holding a porcelain image of Murillo's 'Immaculate Conception of Los Venerables'.

The frame is made of filigree brass with a tendril leaf design and has a central cross crest.

Within the frame is the porcelain plaque with the image of the Virgin dressed in blue and white, her hands crossed over her bosom and her gaze directed at the heavens as she stands on the moon. She is in a celestial space filled with light, clouds and angels - just heavenly!

On the back of the frame is a loop to take a ribbon or for hanging on a wall.

We have left the brass as we found it, gently mellowed with the passage of time but it would polish to a shiny finish if required.

The frame measures :- 16.75 cm (6.5 inches) high x 11.5 cm (4.5 inches) wide.
The porcelain image measures :- 6.75 cm (2.6 inches) x 4.75 cm (1.8 inches) wide.

This is a beautiful religious piece to display and enjoy and another divine antique French brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!
