B1502 - SOLDThis is a gorgeous antique French urn in the Art Nouveau style and dating around 1900. It is very architectural and would make a stunning feature piece. It is made in spelter and is a weighty piece. It is of pleasing vase shape with a bulbous body, a tall elegant neck and two handles. It sits on a sturdy base. The handles are decorated with painted green leaves which look superb against the darker hue of the spelter. Around the body of the urn are the most gorgeous flowers in the Art Nouveau style. They too have green leaves with hints of gilding and were possibly once painted white. The paint has now faded to a pale grey which offers the subtle contrast against the spelter which could only come with age. Further flowers in the form of pansies continue up the neck of the urn. These have a bronze tone. The neck of the urn culminates in a rim which reflects the shape of the base - just lovely. The urn is sturdy and has acquired a fabulous antique patina. It measures :- 34.5 cm (13.5 inches) high x 17 cm (6.75 inches) wide x 13 cm ( 5 inches) deep. A gorgeous urn to add a château chic finishing touch and another superb antique French architectural find from La Belle Étoffe!
