This is a stunning pair of long antique French tapestry château curtains dating from the 19th Century. They are a feast for the eyes and would certainly add an authentic château chic finishing touch to a room.

The curtains are made in tapestry with a climbing roses design on a subtle dark champagne textured scrolled background. There is a rose and leaf border to the sides and bottom of each curtain. The roses are in subtle shades of ochre, burgundy and green.

The curtains have a raw cut edge to the top and are lined with a brown cotton textile. They are of good weight, hang beautifully and would certainly help to keep the draughts out.

The curtains are in good antique condition. The right hand curtain as one looks at the photos has some darker areas at the top and bottom (please see photos). These blend into the design and do not draw the eye when the curtains are hung. There is also a little light wear to the right hand edge of this curtain.

The lining of the curtains has some minor marks and there are some splits in the right hand one (please see photos).

We have left the curtains as we found them. In our opinion, once the cut edges on the top have been addressed, they are ready to hang in a period home where the characteristics they have acquired over the last 100 + years will be celebrated. They have not been dry cleaned.

Each curtain measures :- 290 cm (9 feet 6 inches) long x 121 cm (3 ft 11.5 inches) wide.

This is a fabulous pair of antique French curtains to add an authentic château chic statement and another divine period French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.

N.B. The curtain rings, clips and hold backs that we have used to display the curtains are not included.
