B1559 - SOLD

This is a stunning antique French church cross / crucifix dating from the 19th Century. It would originally have stood on a church altar and would now make a stylish architectural addition to a reflective niche.

The cross is beautifully fashioned in gilded spelter. To either side is a gorgeous winged angel kneeling in prayer on a cloud of decorative swirls and scrolls.

The cross stands on a decorative gilded brass and Baccarat glass base. The glass is in a sublime shade of blue and catches the light beautifully to set the atmosphere for both personal worship and aesthetic effect.

The cross is sturdy and in good condition. The gilding on the base has mellowed over the years to a dark old gold hue.

The cross measures :- 33 cm (13 inches) high x 9 cm (3.5 inches) diameter across the base.
