B1564 - SOLD

This is a beautiful pair of long antique French Cornely lace curtains in the Art Nouveau style and dating around 1900. They would be the perfect finishing touch to a château window.

The textile is a soft tulle. The sides and bottom are scalloped. There is a scrolled design to the top and bottom with a beautiful flag iris to the centre. The design is defined in chain stitch embroidery with appliqué infill in a delicate fine textile.

There is a curtain tape to the top.

The curtains are white. They are crisp and fresh and in good antique condition but not surprisingly, considering the delicacy of the textile and it's age there are some characteristics. The fine appliqué textile has worn in places (please see photos), there are a few tiny repairs and a couple of tiny marks. In our opinion these minor characteristics of the last 100 years or so in no way detract from the beauty of these wonderful curtains.

Each curtain measures :- 245 cm (8 ft 0.5 inches) long x 40 cm (1 ft 3.75 inches) wide.

A divine pair of antique French lace curtains to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique textile find from La Belle Étoffe.

Please note that the clips we have used to display the curtains are not included.
