B1565 - SOLD

This is a divine antique French lace curtain / panel dating about 1900. It incorporates Cornely lace, appliqué and embroidery techniques all on one stunningly worked piece.

The textile is a soft tulle. There is a beautifully worked flower and scrolled border with a central delicate flower and tendril design which looks superb against the tulle background.

There are scalloped edges to the sides and bottom and a curtain tape to the top.

The curtain is in a lovely antique cream with highlights of white embroidery on the border flowers.

The curtain is in very good antique condition. It is clean and fresh but on very close inspection a very very faint watermark can be seen and there are some very small areas where the embroidery has taken on an ochre hue (please see photos). There is also one tiny pin prick hole. In our opinion these minor characteristics of the last 100 years or so in no way detract from the beauty of this wonderful piece.

The curtain measures :- 198 cm cm (6 ft 6 inches) long x 68 cm (2 ft 2.75 inches) wide.

A divine antique French lace curtain to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique textile find from La Belle Étoffe.

Please note that the clips we have used to display the curtain are not included.
