B1581 - SOLD

This is an impressive pair of antique French tapestry château curtains dating from the 19th Century. They are very long and and ooze faded grandeur. They would add an authentic 'always been there' finishing touch to a period home and certainly help to keep the draughts out.

The textile is a cotton tapestry weave of classic floral design in shades of brown, green and claret on a beige textured background. There is a border of similar design to the sides and bottom.

The tapestry textile is in good sound condition with no wear. The top and bottom of the curtains need hemmimg, the sides are the selvedge folded back. The textile has darkened and faded a little in places. The bottom of the right hand curtain shows a pink bloom which is probably due to sun fading which although visible does not seem to detract from the overall splendour of the curtain ensemble.

The curtains are not lined. We have left them as we found them. They have not been dry cleaned. In our opinion with a little attention they would be ready to hang in a period home where the characteristics they have acquired over the last 100 + years will be celebrated.

Each curtain measures:- 331 cm (10 ft 10 inches) long x  120 cm (3ft 11.25 inches) wide.

An impressive pair of antique French curtains to add an authentic château chic statement and another superb period French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.

N.B. Any curtain accessories we have used to display the curtains are not included unless otherwise stated.
