B1585 - Charming Antique French Repousse Hand Paper / Letter Clip Bureau Accessory 19th C

This is a charming antique French paper / letter clip dating from the 19th Century. It is in the shape of a hand and would make a very decorative addition to a château chic bureau.

The clip is made of repoussé metal which has mellowed to a fabulous atmospheric  bronze hue. The hand has a ring to the index finger and a beautiful frilled cuff to the wrist. The hand is attached to the back plate by a strong sprung hinge. The back plate is also decorative and has a hole at the top for hanging on a hook.

The hand and it's backplate measure :- 10 cm (4 inches) long x 5 cm (2 inches) wide x 2.5 cm (1 inches) high.
