B1599 - Sweet Pair Compact Antique French Acanthus Leaf Gilded Curtain Tie / Hold Backs

This is a sweet pair of compact antique French gilded metal curtain tie / hold backs dating from the 1800's. They are of a perfect size to hold back a lace curtain or the cords of a rope and tassel hold back. They would certainly add an authentic château chic finishing touch to a curtain ensemble.

The fascia of the hook has a gorgeous scrolled acanthus leaf design and the backplate has a flower and leaf crest.

The gilding on the metal has subtly mellowed and patinated over the years whilst still retaining buttery highlights which catch the light beautifully .

The hold backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook.

They measure approx :- H 12 cm (4.75 inches) x W 4.5 cm (1.75 inches) x D 9 cm (3.5 inches).
