B1616 - SOLD
This is a divine vintage French wall hanging dating from the mid 20th Century. It has a 'tapestry' design printed on linen. It is a representation of the right hand section of 'Les Vendanges' of the Cluny Museum in Paris. The original 'Les Vendanges' tapestry was completed in the first quarter of the 16th Century. This version certainly captures the essence of the original and would look superb whether hung in a country house home or a hyper modern apartment.
The scene takes place in a vineyard with a background of millefleurs. The atmosphere is very relaxed, with the nobility rubbing shoulders with the peasants.
The design is beautifully printed to capture the detail of the original tapestry. The colours are a stunning combination of reds, pinks, teals and ochres.
The wall hanging has a hessian lining, is nice and heavy and hangs perfectly. On the back are 4 metal fixtures for hanging purposes. It is nice and crisp and in excellent vintage condition. There are just 2 minor marks on the lining.
The wall hanging measures :- 97.5 cm (3 ft 2.5 inches) high x 88.5 cm (2 ft 10.75 inches ) wide.
A fantastic wall hanging to add an authentic château chic statement to a room and another divine vintage French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
N.B. We have used clips to display the wall hanging and these are not included.
