B1628 - SOLDThis is a exceptional antique French brass triple picture frame dating from about 1900. We have left it as we found it displaying three charming family photos of the era but these could of course be changed if required.
The frame is very decorative. It is a very heavy and substantial piece, weighing over 1 kg. It is of excellent quality and is cast in wonderful detail.
There is a central round display area with a rhomboid shaped display area to either side. Beneath the central photo is a coat of arms with an oak branch to one side and a laurel branch to the other. The rest of the base of the frame is extensively decorated with acanthus leaf scrolls and curls and it sits on two acanthus leaf scroll feet.
A sweet crest and a rose to either side completes this beautiful frame. The brass has mellowed to a wonderful antique hue.
On the back of the frame is a sturdy stand with an ingenious stay to hold it firm.
The frame is in good antique condition. It is sturdy and the glass is in good order. There are 2 tiny casting holes in the metal (please see photos).
The frame measures 23 cm (9 inches) high x 30 cm (11.75 inches) wide and is 15 cm (5.9 inches) deep when on it's stand.
The central photo display area is 7.5 cm (2.9 inches) in diameter. The 2 side display areas are max 8.5 cm (3.4 inches) high x 4 cm (1.5 inches) wide.
This gorgeous frame would add a château chic finishing touch to a room and would make a fabulous gift. It is from a carefully selected collection of antique French decorative pieces from 'La Belle Étoffe'!
